Jana Kubánková(born 1988) is a violinist, free artist and coach. Her area is contemporary music and trans-disciplinary projects. Her authorial focus is music and analogue photography.
Since 2017 she has appeared as a concertmaster and soloist of the Berg Orchestra where she premiered many international and Czech contemporary works. She gives recitals in Czechia, Europe and USA and participates at trans–disciplinary artistic projects.
In 2019, Jana co-founded cross-border artistic group Colture Company focusing on human rights issues. She appears as a performer and co-author of concepts.
Since 2020, Jana experiments with her own authorial work in music and analog photography. She is also experimenting with joining those worlds by capturing auditory aspect of the picture context and creating authorial music soundtracks on those pictures.
Jana founded an educational project for students of art and professionals called Psychosomatics of instrumental playing. Within this method, she leads the students to body-mind approach in learning and performing process, based on her own training in motion-, art- therapy techniques, philosophy and holistic approach, which she had undertaken in studies and training between 2012 – 2017, and further research on the issue of awareness of human embodiment in teaching praxis. Jana is leading workshops mostly within Czechia, Slovakia and additionaly at Meadowmount School of Music in USA, since 2018.
Jana graduated in performance and theory of performance from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 2012. She also gained a full scholarship to study violin at Meadowmount School of Music in NY, USA in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She appeared as a soloist with eminent Czech orchestras such as Prague Philharmonia or Prague Chamber Orchestra. During her early studies, she received many awards and performed at Czech Radio life concerts. At the age of twenty, Jana became a violinist in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. She joined the orchestra on tours throughout the world and cooperated with many world-known conductors. Jana also took an important part in arranging and coaching many educational projects within the Czech Philharmonic. In 2017, Jana left the orchestra to get artistic freedom and time for her own projects.
Jana is active in community work. She has run a non-profit organization to manage projects for wide public to share artistic experience from creation. She took part in social-art projects with minorities and segregated children, such as Gipsy Camps in Slovakia or Centers for children in danger in Prague. Through community works, Jana is discovering creativity as a bridge to create understanding through personal relationships with outer world and within people involved.
Since 2019, Jana appears as publicist for cultural revue The New Presence.
